The 3rd Annual MSP UP Teenage Defensive Driving Program will be held this year at the UP State Fairgrounds, June 26th, June 27th, and June 28th. This program is for teenage drivers with their Graduated Level 2 drivers licenses who are interested in training with MSP trooper instructors to make them better defensive drivers. The Phoenix Chapter of National Honor Society recently cleaned the highway for MDOT's Adopt A Highway cleaning week. This is one of several service projects that these NHS students participate in. Viking Strong!

Baraga High School's Phoenix Chapter of National Honor Society recently held an induction ceremony where 6 new students were inducted to our chapter. Congratulations to all of these NHS members, and keep up the great work! Viking Strong!

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s), On Wednesday, May 8th there will not be afternoon bus transportation. Please make plans ahead of time for your child(ren) to be picked up. Thank you for your understanding.

Community Event:
This event we be on May 20th from 8am-3pm, lunch will be provided (flyer is attached).
This event will cover what the upcoming program will be about, the first program that will be discussed is called, “Getting Ahead”, it is a 16 week class. Below are the goals and outcomes, who’s eligible and what’s provided.
*There will be no childcare at this event. The childcare will start when the 16 week program starts.
*Depending on interest, a second class is being planned for a later date (Money Matters/Financial Literacy). This will also be a 16 week class that requires successful completion of the Getting Ahead class.
Goals and Outcomes – Getting Ahead
To become a more stable individual
To increase personal income
To decrease amount of debt
To pursue or further education
To create a personal bank account
To increase self-sufficiency
Who’s Eligible?
Individuals below 200% of the federal poverty level
Individuals not on permanent disability assistance
Individuals who have been in recovery, if needed, at least six months
Individuals who are cognitively capable
Individuals who want to change their lives
Provided Free at Classes
Educational Childcare

Transportation (if needed); if not, $25 gas card will be given to participants
